Dear Senator West: I am writing to ask you to support the CROWN (Create a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair) Act, Texas House Bill 392 / Senate Bill 77. As your constituent, we need your help to change the laws in Texas to help end the racial injustice of discrimination against African American Texans because of their hair. The CROWN (Create a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair) Act legislation ensures that traits historically associated with race, such as hair texture and hair styles are protected from discrimination in the workplace, housing, and K-12 public, private and charter schools.
